Overview
The Temple of Philae,
Originally located on Philae Island in the Nile at Aswan, was relocated to Agilkia Island in the 1960s due to the creation of Lake Nasser after the Aswan High Dam's construction. This remarkable relocation, led by UNESCO, is one of the greatest archaeological preservation feats. Dedicated to Isis, the goddess of magic, love, and fertility, the temple was a major center of her cult. It remained active for religious worship into the 6th century AD, long after the pharaonic period, making it one of the last pagan temples in Egypt. Built during the Ptolemaic Dynasty, the temple blends architectural styles from both the Ptolemies and Romans.

Pickup from your hotel in Aswan;

Upon arrival, you will be escorted to the entrance of Philae Temple, located on Agilkia Island. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Isis and is one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt, famous for its stunning location on the Nile and its remarkable historical significance.
